TRADITION (Family Musicians)

Brought up in family of musician’s, Pandit Hindraj was initiated into Sitar and Rudra Veena playing by his father The late Pandit Hindagandharva Shivarambuwa Divekar (vocalist, Rudra Veena Player, Marathi Stage Actor), who was a disciple of late Pandit G.B. Achrekar ( Rudra Veena player, highly respected music researcher, and writer of Indian music and its science of Sruti-Shastra-Interval-Microtones), Late Pandit Krishnarao Kolhapure (Marathi Stage Actor and Rudra Veena Player), late shankarbhaiya Ashtekar (ujjain M.P), Late Pandit Master Dinanathji Mangeshkar ( A great Singer of India and Marathi stage Actor), Late Pandit Hindagandharva Shivarambuwa Divekar also belongs to the tradition Beenkars of India, Late Ustad Bande Ali Khan.


Pandit Hindagandharva Shivarambuwa Divekar taught many students of Maharastra, as well as given many concerts of vocal North Indian Classical music, Acted in Marathi stage and dramas, and Rudra Veena programms at various places of India and live programme on AIR, Mumbai and Pune Station during his time. He has honoured by late Prime Minister of India Shri. Morarji Desai, at Balagandharva Rangamandir Pune in 1978, organized by Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Natya Sammelan. Pandit Shivarambuwa Divekar Passed away on 26th Sept. 1988.

Pandit Hindraj’s grandfather “Natashrestha Chintoba Divekar was illustrious Singer and Actor of the Marathi Stage and Drama. He has given his life, continuous 65 years to Marathi stage acting and singing and expired at the age of 82. He had given vocal concerts of North Indian Classical Hindustani music in many courts in India viz- Kolhapur, Ichalkaranji, Sangli, miraj, Baroda, Indore, Devas, DHAR, Mysore, Pune, Mumbai, and acting in drama all country.he had honoured by late Prime Minister of india Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in 1954 at NEW DELHI. He passed away on 4th April 1956.. He passed away on 4th April 1956. He has given his programme on Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Radio Station during his programme on Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi Radio station during his period. H.M.V Recorder company produced one Record of Chintoba Divekar in 27th July 1949. He has taught many students in Vocal, and acting education in drama. For this purpose he had opened India’s First School for Teaching of Acting in Music and prose Drama, , Hindustani Devotional songs, Bhajans , Pade, and Abhanga, Songs of Dramas, Harmonium,Tabalavadan, Nritya, Classical music vocal. The name of the school was, Ra. Chintaman Ramchandra Rudha alias Divekar’s NATYA SANGEETA SHALA 1918–Chintoba Divekars many students have become very femous in country and world wide high rank musicians in Music and Drama field. (Chintoba Divekar Birth 22-12-1874 and death 4-4-1956). Pandit Hindraj’s musical tradition of the family be traced back to many generations.
